Gašper Kunšič (1992, Slovenia) studied at the University of Applied Arts Vienna, Academy of Fine Arts Vienna and at Städelschule in Frankfurt, where he is completing his Meisterschüler in the class of Judith Hopf. In his work, he appropriates visual references from the countryside of his childhood, as well as folk motifs and pop culture from the former Yugoslavia. Through interventions and works, he transforms exhibition spaces into emotionally charged environments that subvert the traditional, creating a new (folklore) world for those who do not belong. He has exhibited at Belvedere21 (Vienna, 2023), Schiller-Museum (Weimar, 2023), UGM (Maribor, 2023), Ravnikar Gallery Space (Ljubljana, 2023), Kunstverein Wiesen (2023), Škuc Gallery (Ljubljana, 2023), House of Spouse (Vienna, 2023), Wien Museum MUSA (Vienna, 2022) and Municipal Gallery of Ljubljana (2021). He participated in the Youth Biennial (Belgrade, 2023) and Mediterranea Biennial (San Marino, 2021). He lives and works in Frankfurt and Vienna.
