The artist book Enthusiastic Gaze includes photographs that were created as a result of continuous research and collection of materials on the aesthetics of socialist realism, public sculpture, architectural plastic and ornaments from Central and Eastern Europe (Slovenia, Czech Republic, Croatia, Poland, Hungary, Austria). In addition to the photographic material about the monuments, details and elements of objects and sculptures from the exhibition Enthusiatic Gaze, are presented in the book in the deconstructed and fragmented form. In the book, photographs of monuments do not appear in the documentary role, but in combination with other elements and a color scale they are established as elements that no longer carry only ideological significance, but are part of a newly established utopian graphic world. The book is related to the concept of the exhibition, the starting point of which was the view of the heroes of soc-realistic depictions who enthusiastically embrace with the strong bodies in the future, although the system, whose remains they are, was not ideal. A modern man is also often forced to put on a mask of enthusiasm in order to be able to perform daily obligations and act in society, although sincere enthusiasm sometimes runs out. The book Enthusiastic Gaze is a work that takes historical elements and tries to free them from their primary ideological roles, concentrate on their aesthetic qualities, put them in a new context, and actualize in modern society. In this way, it assignes a new destination and establishes the process as a way of understanding the relation to one’s own identity, elements of public space and history, and above all the system that we, millennials have not experience on our own skin, but we still feel it’s echoes in public discourse and space.
